Information or Informations: Which One Is Correct?
Information is an uncountable noun and should not be used in the plural form:
✅ The website provides useful information on local wildlife.
❌ The website provides useful informations on local wildlife.
✅ She's looking for some information on how to apply for the scholarship.
❌ She's looking for some informations on how to apply for the scholarship.
✅ A lot of information was shared during the workshop today.
❌ A lot of informations was shared during the workshop today.
Like other uncountable nouns, information takes a singular verb:
✅ The information is available on the company's official website.
❌ The information are available on the company's official website.
✅ The information has helped us solve many customer queries.
❌ The information have helped us solve many customer queries.
✅ The information was clearly presented in a series of charts and graphs.
❌ The information were clearly presented in a series of charts and graphs.
If you need to quantify information, you can say piece(s) of information or some information. Do not say an information:
✅ He gave me a piece of information that changed my whole perspective.
❌ He gave me an information that changed my whole perspective.
✅ The teacher asked for at least three pieces of information to support our thesis statement.
❌ The teacher asked for at least three informations to support our thesis statement.
✅ In the detective's notes, one important piece of information stood out: the timestamp on the security camera was exactly ten minutes slow.
❌ In the detective's notes, one important information stood out: the timestamp on the security camera was exactly ten minutes slow.
✅ Could you give me some information about the new policy?
❌ Could you give me an information about the new policy?

Real-World Examples of Misuse
When which of the following is used, the noun that follows must be a plural countable noun. Since information is uncountable, we can add pieces of before it to make the question grammatically correct.
